Montrose Molders: I'm curious how others are handling material mixing and movement in their facilities. We've grown a lot a in the last decade and it seems we're outgrowing certain methods we've had in place. If anyone could share some info about their practices it would be a huge help.
Some info about us:
-We have 50 Injection Molding machines from 50 tons to 1000 tons
-We're molding 24 hours a day, 5 days a week
-We're a custom molder, average piece run about 5,000 pcs, mostly custom colors
The questions:
-How many material mixers do you employ?
-What are their responsibilities other than mixing material?
-How do they know when to stop mixing material for a given job?
-What size are your presses and how many of them do you have?
-Do you have a 2nd/3rd shift?
Our issues seem to be mainly on 2nd and 3rd shift when we have less managers on duty. I'm looking for ideas on how to fix this.
