Troy Nix: Joy, if you use the "Search" function of the MAPP website on the blog, there has been other postings on this issue. Here are a couple:"We are registered with the State Department, and we export ITAR regulated parts. I recommend going to the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) website at www.pmddtc.state.gov and contact the help desk. If you do not directly export defense articles, you may not need to register, but only they can give you that answer and it depends largely on the part or component you are manufacturing. Also, you can download the complete ITAR at that same website. It is a long read, but it does spell out who needs to register and what is covered." You may want to call Sean Bitts at MXL at 717-569-8711 or give him a quick email at s.bitts@mxl-industries.com." Also, John Passanisi of PRD has offered to help MAPP members as they are ITAR certified. His email is John.Passanisi(AT)prd-inc.com Thanks! Troy Nix

Falcon Plastics: Purchased Parts Markup

Falcon Plastics: It seems like there is several opinions on how this should be handled. I know we all "want" 25% on purchased parts but... I'm talking about inserts, nuts, bolts, bags, retail boxes, etc. 1.What percent are you using on "Won" RFQ's? 2.What percent on "lost" RFQ's? 3.Next question is...How are you figuring this percent? Purchased part price times your markup(example 25% on $1.00 = $1.00X1.25=$1.25 or the old trusty retail method of $1.00÷.75=$1.33) ??? Thanks! Chad Fergen Falcon Plastics Inc. Chad Fergen

Metro Plastics Technologies: Hi Monika. What we do in this situation is simply have a nest/fixture in front of the operator that a spot for each RH and LH part. The operator must place the correct hand part on the fixture, then into the box. Granted this is not fail safe 100% but we found that it works better than expected with very little mixed parts. PLASTIC MOLDING TECHNOLOGY INC: RAPID RATINGS FINANCE CHECK

PLASTIC MOLDING TECHNOLOGY INC: All--Recently my customer advised it is a "show-stopper" to move forward with new business with PMT if we do not agree to submit our finances to Rapid Rating. Rapid Rating is a 3rd party company that would have an NDA between PMT and Rapid Ratings. They would supposedly report to my customer our financial condition. I am concerned about this intrusion to privacy and how it may be used to leverage our future contracts. Charles A Sholtis
